Job Description

As the Site Engineering Project Manager you are responsible for developing and implementing a broad range of projects (R&D and facilities infrastructure) designed to support growth, productivity and operational improvements for the broad BMS Research customer base.

The project manager will be responsible for multiple, concurrent projects and may at times manage internal and/or external resources to execute the work.

The project manager is responsible to lead project design and implementation teams and must develop working relationships with various governmental agencies as required to obtain necessary construction, operating permits and approvals.

The position requires direct interaction and communication with customers on job status and the ability to maintain excellent customer relations with: BMS management, staff, technical, financial and user group personnel to establish overall project objectives and define the scope of work.

Responsibilities Include:

• Administrative facets of the project: budgeting, project execution strategies, material and contractor service procurement, design coordination, change/scope control and field construction mgmt.
• Development of capital project scope and objectives in support of the business strategies of clients and stakeholders through the BMS Stage Gate policy and process.
• Utilizing leadership, self-confidence, negotiation skills, analysis and decision making skills.
• Leading and promote effective teamwork within Engineering; design teams, project implementation teams, customers, vendors, contractors and stakeholders.
• Developing, measuring and revising business processes.
• Utilizing fundamental Engineering principles and a broad knowledge of multiple disciplines including the functional requirements of pharmaceutical facilities and engineering best practices, ensuring that appropriate internal and external resources are incorporated into the project design and execution.
• Building a supporting business case with supporting financial data to justify a project throughout life-cycle, including: concepts, feasibility through implementation.
• Achieving high customer satisfaction by delivering finished projects that are fully commissioned, qualified and ready for start-up/occupancy and meet all of the stakeholder requirements.
• Achieving effective financial control through management of project scope, estimating, effective use of SAP and budget control tools, risk management, and project closeout.
• Building and utilize a network of strong relationships within the BMS Engineering community and with other key functions within BMS.
• E ffectively communicating/negotiating technical and non-technical topics to expedite decisions.
• Sharing of knowledge across organizational boundaries.

Qualifications

The qualified candidate will have the following background:

• Degree in architecture, engineering or equivalent experience with 5-10 years as Project Manager/Sr. Project Manager required.
• Pharmaceutical/biotech experience strongly preferred.
• Strong skills in: team building and problem solving, project team leadership, and negotiation skills are required.
• Broad technical knowledge of facility operations, and engineering preferred.
• High level of communications skills, writing and presentation skills expected.
• Must possess: creativity, open mindedness, and a positive attitude to work in a dynamic operating culture.
• Knowledge of GMPs, GLPs, AAALAC Regulations, Building Codes and ADA, and OSHA Regulations required.
• Strong Project Management skills for a broad range of: design, operations, maintenance, energy and construction related projects.
• Proven experience in managing engineering resources both internal and external.
• Demonstrated experience in the areas of programming, design development, scheduling, construction management, estimating and project financial controls.
