This position is for a collaborative and innovative computational biologist with experience in developing and applying machine learning methodologies to conduct cutting edge biological research. The successful candidate will use computational approaches to derive understanding of cancer therapy resistance mechanisms from pre-clinical and clinical oncology data sets. These insights will be used to identify drug targets, define patient populations, and guide drug discovery decisions. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues across the organization, influencing research and development efforts from discovery to early clinical development.

  • Collaborate with computational biologists, cancer biologists, and other drug discovery scientists to design and execute experiments that yield insight into important scientific questions in oncology.
  • Develop and apply computational methods to enable data-driven target discovery and patient stratification for oncology.
  • Deliver scientific insights that guide program decisions.
  • Communicate findings effectively, and recommend follow up actions, in a team setting.

  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, or similar
  • 2+ years of applied post-doctoral research experience in relevant industry, clinical or academic environments
  • Expertise conducting complex data analysis in a programming language such as R or Python
  • Demonstrated expertise in machine learning and statistics and the fundamental tools of bioinformatics and computational biology.
  • Proficiency integrating and analyzing high-dimensional, omics data sets (e.g. mRNA-seq, whole-exome or -genome sequencing, single cell sequencing, proteomics, etc.).
  • An ability to identify problems where computational approaches can be impactful, and the skills to develop solutions both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of an inter-disciplinary team.
  • Strong communication, data presentation, and visualization skills.
  • Familiarity with reproducible research practices.
  • Experience conducting research in oncology preferred.
  • Experience with functional genomics approaches (e.g. CRISPR) preferred.
