The Scientist I/II position will be part of the Process Development Downstream department in Devens, MA that is responsible for early and late- stage process development of BMS' growing biologics pipeline. This role is within the Biologics Development organization in Devens, MA. The candidate will work with cross- functional teams to develop and characterize downstream processes. The candidate will drive platform purification process strategies, and technology development projects. The candidate will actively partner with the overall downstream team, upstream team, Manufacturing, MS&T, Analytical Development, Formulation Development, and Program Management.
Design, execution, and data interpretation of Chromatography and Filtration experiments.
Support process scale-up activities in the pilot plant and clinical and commercial manufacturing sites.
Evaluation and design of new process technologies, including multicolumn continuous chromatography (MCC) operations for intensifying downstream manufacturing.
Prepare/review technical documents including process development reports, tech transfer documents, process characterization reports, and in-process control strategy documents, as well as CMC regulatory submissions.
Participate on cross-functional teams to progress both early and late stage drug candidates. Conceptualize and implement upcoming technologies for biologics manufacturing.
PhD, M.S or B.S in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Cell Biology or related field with 0-3, 3-6 or 6-8 years, respectively, of relevant industrial and/or academic experience preferred.
Prior experience in downstream process development.
Knowledge of protein purification, protein stability, and demonstrated experimental skills for laboratory work are required.
Knowledge of protein characterization and analytical techniques preferred.
Knowledge of statistical experimental design and data analysis preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Critical qualities include a high degree of initiative, good verbal and written communication skills, strong scientific skills and attention to detail, and the ability to work in a team environment.
