This role focuses on the development and implementation of category strategies that define how purchasing will be done for Small Molecule Drug Substance Development and Clinical Supply, including defining buying channels, purchasing policies, and supplier relationship management program, etc. in order to ensure reliable, robust, agile, compliant and cost-effective supply. This Category Manager will advise, support, and occasionally lead the application and integration of Sourcing Category Management (SCM) to meet the needs of the Integrated Product Development organization particularly for Chemical Development. This role will develop, maintain and implement a 3-5 year strategic category plan that ensures all projects deliver maximum value. Additionally, this individual is responsible for overseeing the execution of category strategies by multiple cross-functional teams, including sourcing and contracting. This role will assist in the development of and adherence to strategic category management processes and procedures, supplier and category segmentation, metrics/KPI development and application, and contract management. This role is expected to ensure close alignment to business priorities and functional objectives.
This leader must be able to engage technically, operationally, and commercially to understand and enable speed, high quality performance, supply assurance, and risk mitigation. Communication with a broad stakeholder group from scientist to operations and quality teams is critical for this role. Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Develop global category strategies with regional / market variations that define how purchasing will be done for a given spend category
Advise, support, and occasionally lead the application and integration of Sourcing Category Management (SCM) to meet the needs of the Integrated Product Development organization particularly for Small Molecule Drug Substance Development.
Develop and manage key category budget owners and functional stakeholders
Ensure excellence in delivery of procurement initiatives that maximize corporate, business, and functional priorities and objectives
Execute Supplier Relationship Management priorities by fostering collaborative relationships with highly strategic global / regional suppliers
Ensure highest standards of excellence in category strategies across key capabilities
